TO THE ALGARVE

Wherever your eyes take you, the beautiful bright colours of the mountains and sea, range from gold to brown, green and blue. The Algarve is an extensive and friendly region with a Mediterranean climate where the scent of the sea air and wild flowers is always present.

The coastline is vast, having as a background the most beautiful beaches in Europe, where one can admire the incredible rock formations along the sandy shores. This coastline has a rich historical background, with interesting details. The best way to discover them is to walk through the winding streets, alleyways of the many quaint peaceful villages.

Browsing through the Algarve in places of high ecological interest, rich in biodiversity and ecosystems, is walking through centuries of tradition, unchanged along the ages. Craftsmen skilfully manufacture objects made from pottery, copper, brass and works of linen and jute, using ancestral techniques.

Among the breathtaking landscapes, there are beaches for all tastes, from the towering cliffs of Cape St Vincent to the golden cliffs of the Western Algarve through to the Ria Formosa, with its long sandy beaches and unspoilt islands.

Most beaches are Blue Flag beaches and many have been adapted for people with reduced mobility, with reserved parking spaces, accessible ramps, beach facilities with adapted cloakroom facilities and lowered counters, amongst others.

Within walking distance of the tranquility of the countryside, one can experience varied entertainment. Following an international trend, the “Sunset Parties,” are a must throughout the Algarve. Late afternoons celebrated in a relaxing atmosphere, combining fun with relaxation, making the days last forever.

Walks in the marinas, casinos, bars and nightclubs ensure entertainment for all tastes. The environment is varied, from music of the ‘80s, alternative pop, through to electro-pop, new wave, Afro-Cuban rhythms, Latin and Brazilian.

The architecture of its houses also does not go unnoticed, from its colourful parapets and chimneys of unique beauty, to the church steeples and museums, showing excerpts of the ancestors of the people of the Algarve.

The practice of outdoor sports becomes a necessary habit, either on the lush golf courses or other outdoor sports. The infrastructure that the region offers for physical activity is tremendous, on the coast or in the hills, cloaked in rosy white due to the almond trees in blossom that dot the horizon, even before the arrival of spring.
